  • 5 flashcards with Tangram patterns (cat, gift, kite, rocket, duck)
  • Activity sheet for arranging shapes

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step Instruction
1 Introduction to Tangrams: Show the child the 7 Tangram shapes and let them explore the pieces and their colours (green, orange, blue, red, purple/violet, yellow, and dark blue).
2 Explaining Patterns: Present the 5 flashcards and explain how the shapes can form different pictures.
3 Demonstration: Choose a simple pattern (e.g., cat) and demonstrate how to use all 7 shapes without overlapping.
4 Making Patterns: Encourage the child to pick a flashcard and recreate the pattern using their Tangram pieces (e.g., kite).
5 Checking and Celebrating: Check the completed pattern against the flashcard and celebrate with positive reinforcement.
6 Exploring More Patterns: Encourage the child to try different patterns or create their own using the Tangram pieces.
7 Discussion & Display: Discuss the experience and display the completed Tangram patterns to celebrate their creativity and problem-solving skills.
